Master's in Linguistics

In order to be considered as candidates for a Master's Degree Programme in Linguistics, students must:

• Have a first degree with a grade of at least 7/10.
• Have attained an average grade of at least 7.5/10 in the Linguistics curriculum.
• Have a very good knowledge of English (preferably Proficiency level), a working knowledge of another foreign language, while knowledge of a third language will be considered an asset.

Language certificates issued by any recognised Greek or foreign examination board must be submitted to verify the applicant's language skills. If such certificates are not available, the candidate will be required to complete an oral examination during the interview.

The list of successful candidates is compiled on the basis of examination results and the criteria specified in Law 2083/92, article 12, as follows:

Grade in specialised curriculum	25%
Foreign language skills	15%
Degree dissertations and other assignments	15%
Special qualifications (involvement in research programmes, participation in Summer Schools, publications, participation in Erasmus student exchange programmes, etc.)	5%

The above criteria do not apply to domestic or foreign students studying on scholarships from the State Scholarship Foundation. These students will be judged individually depending on the terms of their scholarship.

If the number of students achieving the same score as the final candidate accepted exceeds ten, their applications will be reconsidered within a period of time determined by the Co-ordinating Committee. The number accepted may not exceed ten. This does not include postgraduate students from other year cohorts returning to study after interrupting their studies for a valid reason.

Students from abroad may on occasions join the postgraduate programme as part of a European programme (SOCRATES ERASMUS), thus taking the number of students above ten.
