This course explores the major twentieth-century theories on readers and the hermeneutical process. Issues to be studied: Different kinds of readers. Reception theory. The reader-oriented perspective in structuralism, phenomenology, hermeneutics, post-structuralist theory, feminist theory, psychoanalytic criticism. Applications to literary texts.
