We shall study the literary production of the Ionian Islands in the course of one century (1800-1900) focusing on the work of Dionysios Solomos. More specifically we shall explore 1) the literary production of the Ionian Islands during the 18th and early 19th centuries, 2) the poetry and prose writing of Solomos and his literary cycle, and 3) the influence of Solomos' legacy on the writers of the Ionian Islands in the years following the Islands' Union with Greece.
