Student Admissions
First-year students can only be admitted to the Department of Philology via the Greek secondary education system. For further information please refer to the relevant handbook by the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs (YPEPTH) available from the Departmental Office.
The Department of Philology is part of the Humanities, Law and Social Sciences Field (First Field) together with other departments of the same type at Greek universities.
From 2000 until 2008, the minimum entry scores of students admitted to the Department of Philology were as follows:

Citizens of other countries, Greeks from abroad and individuals of non-Greek origin who have graduated from a secondary school or equivalent educational institution in an EU member state may submit an application for admission into the Department of Philology. For further information and details of the documents required please refer to the relevant web page of the University of Patras or consult the document issued by the YPEPTH.
Information for members of Greek communities abroad who would like to be admitted into the Department of Philology may be found on the relevant web page of the YPEPTH.
Graduates from Universities or Technological Education Institutions with degrees in other subjects and graduates of other equivalent institutions abroad may be admitted into the department by taking entrance examinations. For further information concerning entrance examinations for admission into the Department of Philology for the academic year 2008-2009 please ask for the relevant document from the Departmental Office.
Applications for transfer to the Department of Philology may only be submitted by students from equivalent departments of other Greek universities. For more information please contact the Departmental Office.
